About Kauai

Kauai is known as the Garden Isle due to the lush rain forests that cover most of it’s 552 square miles.  Trade winds blow air up the mountain slopes resulting in daily rainfall.  As a result, Kauai is one of the most beautiful of the Hawaiian islands. In addition, Kauai is also one of the first Hawaiian islands to form as a result of volcanic activity.

Kauai has a population of about 75,000 people and is the least populated islands when compared to Maui, Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii.

The town of Princeville is known for it’s beautiful coastline and gorgeous resorts overlooking the Pacific ocean.

The weather in Kauai is mild the entire year with average highs ranging from 78 in January to 85 in August with lows ranging from 67 in January to 76 in August.  While it rains throughout the year, the most rainfall occurs between October and May.  Kauai is susceptible to hurricanes but fortunately they are rare.  The last major hurricane that resulted in significant damage was Iniki in 1992.
