About the Zihuatanejo Pier
The pier in Zihuatanejo is regarded as a central hub for the town’s waterfront activity. It is located along the main bay, offering easy access for both locals and visitors. The structure was first built in the mid-20th century to support fishing and transportation needs.
Over the years, it has been renovated to handle heavier use and larger vessels. Today, small fishing boats and private yachts are often docked here. Additionally, water taxis and excursion boats use the pier daily. These boats carry passengers to nearby beaches and small islands.
Sportfishing charters operate from the pier throughout the entire year. Many visitors arrive early in the morning to board deep-sea fishing trips. Local fishermen bring in fresh catches of snapper, tuna, and mahi-mahi.
The pier also serves as a gathering spot for evening walks. Locals and travelers enjoy watching sunsets over the bay. Additionally, the area is lined with small shops and food stands where seafood dishes and cold drinks are sold.
