About Tulum

Tulum is a popular destination located on Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Situated along the Caribbean coastline, it is known for its beautiful beaches and ancient ruins. Visitors are drawn to its mix of nature, culture, and luxury.

The ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum are unique as they sit on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The site offers stunning views and a glimpse into the area’s rich history. In addition, Tulum’s beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world. Soft white sand and clear waters make it perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or relaxing.

For adventure seekers, Tulum offers plenty to enjoy. Snorkeling and swimming in cenotes is a popular activity.  The area’s crystal-clear freshwater pools provide a unique experience.  Adventure parks such as Xel-Ha, Xplor and more are just a short drive away.

In addition, day trips to the Coba and Chichen Itza ruins are also a popular activity for those that like to get out and explore.

Tulum Weather

The weather in Tulum ranges from pleasant in the winter to very hot and humid in the summer.  The least amount of rain occurs between December and May.  The intense heat and humidity starts in June and continues through the summer well into September.

Hurricane season starts in June and runs through October with a slight chance of a storm in November.  October has the most rain and December and January has the most wind.

Temperatures range from the upper 70s in the winter to the high 80s, and occasionally the low 90s, in the summer.  I have found that the best time to visit is in February and March.  This time of the year has the least amount of rain, wind and humidity and is warm but not overly hot.  In addition, kids are still in school and the spring break crowd has not arrived yet.

If your plans include exploring the Mayan ruins, located inland from Tulum, it is strongly recommended to avoid the hot and humid months because the temperatures and humidity increase significantly as compared to the beach communities.
