About Poipu Beach

Poipu Beach is located on the drier and sunnier, southern shoreline of Kauai.  It is knows for its beautiful sand and calm waters when compared to beaches on the rest of the island.  Adjacent to the beach is a park that has picnic tables and restrooms.

There are several resorts, restaurants and stores located around Poipu Beach making this area a perfect day trip destination.

The beach has a crescent shape with some areas more protected from waves than others.  Portions of the beach are ideal for families as the rocky points and nearby offshore reefs help provide protection form the waves.

The water temperature ranges between 72 and 80 degrees depending on the season.

Poipu Beach is perfect for various water activities including kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming.

Water conditions can vary and there are times when the ocean can become unsafe, even in normally calm areas.  It is important to always check the local conditions before heading out.  Also keep in mind, that ocean conditions can change quickly and what is calm one minute, can become dangerous the next.
