About Duval Steet
Duval Street is one of the most famous streets in Key West, Florida. Stretching just over a mile, visitors enjoy the lively atmosphere, historic sites, unique shops and great restaurants.
Duval Street was named after Florida’s first territorial governor, William Pope Duval. Established in the early 1800s, it became the center of commerce and social life. Over time, it evolved into a vibrant destination for dining, entertainment, and nightlife.
Duval Street offers plenty of activities. Art galleries, boutiques, and souvenir shops line the street. Many visitors explore the historic homes and museums nearby. The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory provides a peaceful escape filled with tropical beauty.
Tthe nightlife is a major attraction. Famous bars, such as Sloppy Joe’s and The Green Parrot, offer live music and drinks. The annual Fantasy Fest transforms the street into a colorful party filled with costumes and parades.
For food lovers, Duval Street has many excellent restaurants. Fresh seafood is served at places like A&B Lobster House and DJ’s Clam Shack. Cuban flavors can be found at El Mesón de Pepe, while Blue Heaven is known for its Key lime pie. Street vendors also offer tasty snacks.
Key West Weather
The weather in Key West is very similar to Miami. It is beautiful from November to April. Temperatures are in the 70s and 80s. Summer brings high temperature and lots of humidity making many days very uncomfortable.
Most of the rain during the year falls between May and October. This coincides with the start of hurricane season on June 1st that runs until the beginning of November. Hurricanes and tropical storms often influence the weather even though they may be a long distance away. Strong thunderstorms can happen at any time during the summer months and are accompanied by heavy downpours.
