About Nosara
Nosara is a hidden gem on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Known for its natural beauty and relaxed vibe, it attracts visitors seeking tranquility. Lush forests, stunning beaches, and friendly locals make it a perfect getaway.
For nature lovers, Nosara offers incredible wildlife. Howler monkeys can be seen in the trees, while exotic birds fill the sky. The nearby Ostional Wildlife Refuge is famous for sea turtle nesting. Visitors can witness thousands of turtles arriving on the beach.
Nosara is a top destination for yoga and wellness. Many retreats and studios provide classes in peaceful, tropical settings. Wellness centers offer massages, meditation, and holistic treatments. The calm environment makes it an ideal place to relax and recharge.
Surfing is also a major attraction. Playa Guiones, the main surf beach, provides consistent waves year-round. May through October sees larger swells combined with more rain and less wind while November through April consistently has smaller swells with bright sunshine and more wind. Surf schools offer lessons, and board rentals are widely available. The long, straight beach allows plenty of space for everyone.
Nosara Weather
The weather in Nosara, Costa Rica is divided into two season, green (rainy season) and summer (dry season).
The majority of the rain falls between May and November. Nearly everyday during this time will see some rain, usually in the afternoons between May and July. However, once August rolls around, all day rains are common until the middle of November.
October is by far the rainiest month for any community on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, including Nosara.
December through April has the driest weather with very little, if any rain. January and February experience the Papagayo winds that blow hard, sometimes at hurricane force strength from the northeast and out to sea. During the clear and windy periods, the humidity levels decrease significantly and most of the landscape turns brown.
The most uncomfortable month in terms of temperature plus humidity is April. The temperatures are high, the winds are calm and the heavy rains have not started and therefore provide no cooling relief from the heat.
